Wall & Floor Tiles
Here you will find traditional ceramic wall tile and floor tile in a classic style, developed with consideration for how they actually looked and were used in the late 1800s, early 1900s, and the 1920s. Our intention has been that they should work equally well in both older and newer environments where one wishes to continue the same tradition.
Ceramic wall tile and floor tile have long been used in kitchens, bathrooms, and entryways where durable surfaces were needed that could also be made visually appealing. The classic subway tile, often laid in a half bond pattern, is a clear example. Together with half tiles, tile moldings, and decorative trims, walls were created with defined endings and a more considered expression. On floors, Victorian Floor Tiles were common in stairwells and entryways, where tiles in different colors and shapes were laid to form various patterns.
What unites much of the older tile and floor tile is a strong sense of proportion and detail. The tiles were set with narrow grout joints, creating a calmer and more cohesive impression than is often seen today. The materials were also chosen for long term durability, something we have carefully maintained in our assortment. Our wall tile, for example, is double fired, and our floor tile is made of porcelain stoneware of the highest quality.
Our ceramic wall tile and floor tile are generally sold in full packages, with the exception of certain tile moldings such as chair rails, base tiles, and decorative trims, which are sold individually.

Rectangular or square tiles
The classic rectangular half tile (often called metro or subway tile) is typically laid in a brick pattern with staggered joints. Square tiles can be installed with straight joints or in a similar staggered layout and work well both above the kitchen counter and on bathroom walls. Our tiles are produced by a manufacturer established in 1897.
Winckelmans floor tiles
Our floor tiles come from the renowned manufacturer Winckelmans, which has been supplying the European market with traditional floor tiles since 1894.
