Facts & Info - Seal doors and windows with wool string

To reduce energy emissions during the cooler seasons - take a look at your window and door seals.

Wool is a fantastic material used for sealing windows and doors for generations. The natural material seals against drafts and dust, yet allows the house to breathe. Unlike other textile fibers, wool is an elastic material that shrinks into narrow spaces and swells into slots and cavities. The wool fiber also repels moisture while, for example, linen and cotton absorb moisture. This makes the wool an ideal material for sealing windows and doors. Today's modern sealing strips are usually made of rubber that eventually dries and cracks, unlike wool sealing. Wool is also an environmentally friendly alternative with a significantly longer life span.

The wool string is available in two variants: 5 mm (fits windows) and a wider 8 mm variant (fits doors). You attach the sealing string with a staple gun, or small nails.
