Tips & facts - Outdoor lighting

Harmonize with the environment

The shape, direction and size of the lamp need to fit the environment in which it should be placed. Please take into account the age, style, architecture, etc. to find a lamp that harmonizes with the environment. Choose a lamp of good quality and made of solid and authentic materials. The lamp needs to withstand varying weather all year round. Also, take your neighbors into account. The lighting may affect close neighbors who in the worst case will be blinded.

Placing

Consider both the height from the ground and the height of the facade when placing your outdoor light. To get the most out of the lighting, the lamp should be placed and directed to illuminate a reflective surface. Place the lamps where you have the most benefit from the light, not just because it should look good when viewed from the outside. As an alternative or complement to facade lighting, one can also illuminate parts of the garden. Light up the details in the garden that you especially like or lighten areas that make you have a good overview.

Mounting

Get help from a electrician who can review the wiring so that everything is properly done and properly grounded. Remember to neither use a light source with too strong light flow nor too cold temperature. Since the eye adapts to the darkness, an overly strong lamp can do more harm than good as the surroundings outside the lamp's shine are perceived as even darker. For a warm beautiful light, the temperature should be below 2700 Kelvin.
