INSTRUCTIONS
Refilling with kerosene and lighting:
- Ensure the lamp is off and cold before refilling.
- Remove the burner tube and burner.
- Fill the container to about 2/3 with lamp kerosene.
- Screw on the burner and let the wick become fully saturated (takes about 20-30 minutes).
- Place the lamp on a flat surface and not near flammable material. Leave at least 1 meter (3.28 feet) free above the lamp.
- Light the lamp and adjust the flame by turning the wick up or down.
- Replace the burner tube.
Extinguishing the kerosene lamp:
Extinguish the lamp by blowing out the flame or turning down the wick.
Changing the wick:
Pull out the old wick from the bottom before inserting the new one from below. Adjust to the right height.
Our kerosene lamps are not intended for decorative lighting purposes, but rather as a primary light source in spaces lacking modern electrical lighting (such as for example, holiday cottages, porches, and patios).
According to EU directive EN 14059: 2002, traditional round burners, whose dimensions and construction have remained unchanged since the 1870s, no longer meet the safety requirements to protect children under the age of three from danger. Therefore, they must not be used for decorative purposes, but only as functional lighting. Should our lamps - contrary to our intentions - be used for decorative lighting purposes, there is a risk that children under the age of three may be exposed to life-threatening lung injuries after sucking on the wick or drinking the lamp oil. IF LAMP OIL IS SWALLOWED, do not induce vomiting. Contact the Poison Control Center or a doctor immediately!
Sekelskifte´s lighting range is CE-marked and approved by EU-standard but not UL-certified. We cannot take responsibility for, or deliver lighting outside the EU.
