Aging of untreated brass
Most of our products made of brass are polished but otherwise untreated. This means that the shiny golden surface will not last forever. Instead the metal will age naturally when exposed to oxygen and moisture and will darken gradually.
The beautiful door knocker to the left has been mounted outdoors on an exterior door for three years. It has been exposed to the air but sheltered from precipitation and thereby received a matte surface and a darker tone.
In the second image, a new brass faucet is shown next to a used one and mounted in the store's guest toilet. After a couple of years of use and exposure to water, the surface has been given a more dramatic patination.
