An Outdoor Room

Around the turn of the century, the garden became a place for both everyday life and celebration. It was where people gathered for coffee, conversation, and relaxation, reflecting the era's growing leisure culture. The garden became a natural extension of the home. Garden furniture drew inspiration from English gardens and the parks of continental Europe, while being adapted to Swedish materials and the Nordic climate.

At markets, in catalogs, and in advertisements, the furniture was sold as complete sets consisting of a sofa, a table, and a pair of chairs. They were easy to move with the sun, foldable, and built to last. If a slat became damaged or rotten, it could easily be replaced.

Our garden furniture is crafted from designs dating back to this period. Made from carefully selected pine and hand-painted with three coats of linseed oil paint, each piece feels just as relevant today as it did at the turn of the century.

And isn't there something special about the ideals of that era? Gathering, relaxing, and spending time together in the garden, close to nature and at a slower pace. Perhaps that is why classic garden furniture feels just as natural today as it did more than a hundred years ago.
