Facts & Info - Winckelmans Floor Tiles

General information – Winckelmans Floor Tiles

Deciding on floor tiles is not always as easy as it may sound. It is fun but also difficult. What is the quality like? Which color works best? Should I have a more intricate pattern or a simpler design? Hopefully, we can help you with these questions. At Sekelskifte, you can find a complete assortment of French brand Winckelmans. Winckelmans has provided the European market with high-quality floor tiles since 1894. Today the company is run by Barbara Winckelmans as the fifth generation in the family business.

Winckelmans Floor Tiles are characterized by their high quality. These tiles are suitable in both indoor as well as outdoor environments due to the high density of the material, making them both heat- and frost-resistant since they absorb a minimal amount of water. This also renders post-installment treatment and cleaning products superfluous.

We can offer the complete assortment of these tiles which contains 32 different shapes in 31 different colors with the possibility of creating an endless number of classic designs. Below you find some examples. To these tiles we recommend thin joints sealed with a joint filler in a lighter color.

Encaustic Tiles

Encaustic tiles are patterned tiles cast with multi-colored clay instead of having the pattern painted on the surface. This means that the pattern will remain even after many years of wear and tear. The Winckelmans assortment contains several different patterns available in different sizes. For example, they can be used to embellish a tile border or an otherwise very square and “geometric” floor pattern. For further suggestions on how to use these Encaustic tiles, see this post.

The Encaustic Tiles can be special ordered in all Winckelmans colors.
