About Sekelskifte

It all began with a neglected apartment, built in 1898 in central Stockholm. The apartment retained traces of its former glory but required careful attention to regain its original splendor. During the renovation, it became clear how difficult it was to find period-appropriate building details. Where could one turn to find the right hardware, wood moldings, and tiles to preserve the original style?

This was when the idea was born – to create a building supply store with a historical touch. A place where genuine building materials inspired by the architectural styles popular around the turn of the 20th century could be gathered. In 2010, Adriano founded the company Sekelskifte. With storage in both the bedroom and the building’s bike room, he began the journey alongside his brother Michele. The goal was to make what was once hard to find easily accessible.

Since then, we have helped countless DIY enthusiasts, craftsmen, and design lovers restore the timeless character of older homes and apartments. We offer building and interior products that are otherwise hard to find in regular hardware stores. From beautiful hardware and period-appropriate wood moldings to fitting fixtures and switches – here, you’ll find everything you need to recreate the styles of 1880-1920.

Since its founding, Sekelskifte has remained a family-owned business. We are as dedicated as ever to preserving and reviving historical details, and we are proud to be part of the revival of many homes and apartments. Welcome to us – we’ll help your spaces shine with their former glory.

The company’s concept took shape when Adriano was searching for period-appropriate building and interior details to renovate his turn-of-the-century apartment. The lily in the tile stove in his former home became the inspiration for our logo.
