Facts & Info - Garden furniture treatment

After a long winter, the garden furniture can sometimes look a little bit tired. With linseed oil and an ounce of love, they become as good as new!

For wooden furniture that is already painted with linseed oil paint, a layer of linseed oil varnish can be enough for it to regain its shine. If the furniture needs to be repainted, we recommend that you first sand it lightly, apply a layer of linseed oil paint and then two covering layers of final coat in the chosen shade.

Benches with oak or pine seating boards may be needing some care. Brush the boards clean of dirt and then wash them with some linseed degreaser and a brush. Let it dry in the spring sun! Depending on the condition of the boards, they may need to be sanded lightly with sandpaper before applying some furniture oil. To get the oil to penetrate more easily, it can be heated (up to 120-130°C) before application. Remember to use a natural brush, as synthetic brushes do not usually withstand the heat.

Cast iron gables that have started to rust, which will be easier to clean if you first disassemble them. Wash screws and nuts separately and oil the entire end with rust-protection oil. Of course, this oil also works well for other cast iron products such as urns and foot scrapers. Be sure to wipe off excess oil to avoid getting a sticky surface. The drying oil penetrates the surface structure and prevents oxidation.
