Wood Tar - Black Tar
A pigmented wood tar perfect for preserving and protecting wooden facades, doors, gates, windows, fascia boards, water boards, and shingled roofs. The tar has been pigmented with black iron oxide paste to provide a beautiful black color.
Wood surfaces exposed to sun, wind, and rain get leached on the surface and eventually turn gray, deteriorate, and crack. Even previously tarred surfaces age the same way, so the treatment needs to be repeated regularly. On exposed south and west sides, a typical maintenance interval is every 5 years, while for the north and east sides, a 10-year interval might suffice.
Black Tar can easily be diluted with raw linseed oil, balsamic turpentine, and/or denatured alcohol. For best results, we recommend applying the black tar at a temperature of up to 65°C. Drying time may vary depending on the quality and characteristics of the substrate, external conditions like temperature, sun, wind, absorption, and layer thickness. But with proper application, the tar will protect and preserve your wood for many years to come!
With a coverage of about 2-4 m² per liter for the first coat on dry substrate and about 4-8 m² per liter for subsequent coats.
NOTE! This product can cause allergic skin reactions and has harmful long-term effects on aquatic life. Be sure to read the instructions and safety precautions before use.
