Note that an intermediate switch should only be chosen when more than two switches are used for the same light and is installed between two two-way switches — for example, on a landing in a staircase or in a corridor when a light needs to be turned on and off from several locations. If you want a regular switch for controlling a single light, or two switches connected to the same light, you should instead choose a two-way switch.
